Stations of the Cross for Kids Book List

Don’t be afraid of doing the Stations of the Cross with your children! Although suffering is a serious subject, I’ve found that little ones are very open to discussing and learning about what Jesus did for us. It takes Christ’s love from an abstract concept to a real understanding of the depth of his sacrifice.

Participating in a public recitation of the Stations of the Cross is a good way for the entire family to practice this devotion. If you pair it with a parish’s Friday fish fry dinner during Lent, your children will love to go week after week, not only for some good food, but to hang out with friends as well.

Doing Stations of the Cross is a great way for children to participate in family prayer. You can use a Way of the Cross designed just for children. These typically have illustrations, simple prayers, and easy-to-learn hymns. Let your child lead each station. You can choose one child for the whole devotion or have several children each lead a few stations. Even your little ones can participate by holding or showing the illustration for each station to the rest of the family.

Check out these different Stations of the Cross for children. Choose one that suits the ages of your children and consider getting a few to rotate through during the season of Lent.
